In high school when you fight with your friends you are forced to work through your differences. If you don’t, you’ll end up seeing each other in the hallway, or sitting next to each other in class anyways. It was just easier. Nowadays, it is so easy to dismiss things. One disagreement can result in the demise of a relationship that at one time you could never see an end to. People mature. Some don’t. Viewpoints begin to alter and conflicts arise. Things that used to be fixed the next day are left to dwell in your mind due to the physical distances between these relationships. It’s difficult. Life is difficult.

Things like this have encouraged me to be more compassionate and understanding. It’s hard to feel somebody else’s pain until you have felt it yourself. You have to be careful. A statement that is seen as dramatic by some could really be a cry for help. Some people are strong and composed while others are fragile and need reassurance to make it through each day.

Try and help someone. Listen to someone you know could benefit from being listened to. Help someone to feel that they are not alone. Find the people in your life that you care about and don’t let them go. If they do manage to escape, let them run. They’ll be back one day. If they aren’t, you’re better off without them. Find the people you care about you that you haven’t cared for in return. Tell them thank you and find it in your heart to realize how special and important they are to your life. You probably need them more than you think.

Love burns; flames die. Find the people in your life that keep the fire burning.
